Device Setup
iOS Devices
- Go to the App Store and search for and download the Microsoft Office app.
- Open the app after it is installed.
- Add your KU email address (for example, a123b456@ku.edu) and tap Add Account.
- You will be prompted to sign in to KU's system using your KU Online ID and password.
- Tap Maybe Later when prompted to Add Another Account.
- Choose whether you would like to Enable Notifications.
- If you chose to get notified, a message will pop up that Outlook would like to send you notifications. Tap Allow.
- When on campus, go to your device Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi.
- If necessary, forget the Guest network.
- Select JAYHAWK.
- Enter your KU Online ID (comprised of letters and numbers) in the Username field and your password in the Password field and select Join.
- Select Accept or Trust in the top right corner of the screen, if prompted to accept a certificate.
- Go to the App Store and search for and download the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app.
- Once it is installed, you can join Zoom meetings through the app in one of two ways:
- Select the link in an email sent by the meeting organizer. This opens the app, and then you'll need to enter the password provided in the email.
- Open the app directly and enter a Meeting ID and password, which will be provided by the meeting organizer.
As a KU student, you have one terabyte of online storage provided through OneDrive for Business.
- Download Microsoft OneDrive from the App Store.
- Open the OneDrive app and type your primary KU email address.
- Select Sign in to OneDrive for Business on the Choose an Account screen.
- Sign in with your KU Online ID and Password.
You can use the full functionality of many Microsoft Office apps, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more on your mobile device. Go to the Apple Store on your device to download the Microsoft Office app.
- Download Canvas Student from the App store.
- Open the Canvas Student app.
- Select Find my school.
- Enter and select University of Kansas.
- Enter your KU Online ID and Password and select Log In.
The mobile app is great for getting announcements and alerts when grades post. To submit assignments, view course reading materials, and complete any other graded work, you will want to use the full Canvas website.
You have access to Adobe Spark Premium where you can graphics, webpages, and videos. Adobe Spark is available on your iOS device through three separate apps.
- Download Adobe Spark Post, Adobe Spark Page, and/or Adobe Spark Video apps.
- By “Have an Adobe ID or Education account,” select Log in.
- Enter your KU email address.
- Select Sign in with an Enterprise ID.
- If prompted, select Enterprise ID.
- You should be redirected to the KU login page where you can log in as usual with your KU Online ID and password.
Access Spark by logging in to Adobe's Spark website.
Android Devices
- Go to the Google Play Store and search for and download the Microsoft Outlook app.
- Open the app after it is installed.
- Tap Get Started.
- Add your KU email address (for example, a123b456@ku.edu) and tap Continue.
- You will be prompted to sign in to KU's system using your KU Online ID and password.
- Tap Skip when prompted to Add Another Account.
- Tap Skip if you want to bypass the app overview.
- When on campus, go to your device Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi.
- If necessary, forget the Guest network.
- Select JAYHAWK.
- Your settings should match the following:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: None
- If None is not available, choose MSCHAPV2.
- CA certificate: Do not validate
- If Do not validate is not available, choose Use System Certificates.
- Domain (if asked): home.ku.edu
- Identity: Your personal KU Online ID
- Anonymous identity: (Leave blank)
- Password: Your password.
- Select Connect.
In a few seconds, you should see “Connected” appear under the Jayhawk network.
- Go to the Google Play Store and search for and download the ZOOM Cloud meetings app.
- Once it is installed, you can join Zoom meetings through the app in one of two ways:
- Select the link in an email sent by the meeting organizer. This opens the app, and then you'll need to enter the password provided in the email.

Mac Computers
Browser-based access:
You can check your email anytime using any web browser.
- Go to Office 365.
- Enter your KU email address (for example, a123b456@ku.edu).
- You will be prompted to sign in to KU's system using your KU Online ID and password.
Desktop access:
You can connect your KU email to the Mail app on your Mac or with Outlook (downloadable at no cost with Microsoft Office – see below).
- Launch Microsoft Outlook.
- Enter your primary KU email address and click Continue.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Domain\Username: Enter home\ followed by your personal KU Online ID (for example, home\a123b456)
- Password: Your password
- Server: mail.ku.edu
- Follow the prompts to complete the setup.
- When on campus, select the wireless icon in the top right.
- Select Open network preferences...
- Make sure Wi-Fi is ON next to Status.
- Select the Advanced… button.
- Under Preferred networks – If necessary, remove all other KU profiles (KUGUEST, JAYHAWK, KU-Passport) by selecting each and then selecting the minus (-) button.
- Select the plus (+) button and enter JAYHAWK for the Network Name.
- Set the security to WPA2 Enterprise.
- Enter your KU Online ID as your username and your Password.
- Select OK.
- Select OK again to get back to Network Preference home.
- Move JAYHAWK to the top of the Preferred Network List by dragging it to the top of the Network box.
- Select OK at the bottom to be returned to the Airport window.
- Close the window and choose Apply.
- Visit the Zoom download page.
- Under Zoom Client for Meetings, select Download.
- Run ZoomInstaller.pkg and select Continue if prompted.
- The Zoom app will now be installed, and you can join meetings.
KU students, faculty and staff can download free versions of Microsoft Office products for home use.
- Launch the App Store and search for Microsoft Office.
- Install the Microsoft Office 365 bundle.
- When the apps are installed, open the app and select Sign in at the top left. Enter your primary KU email address and click Next.
- When you first open a Microsoft Office product, you will be prompted to sign in. Type your primary KU email address and select Next.
- Log in with your KU Online ID and Password.
CANVAS: Go to the Canvas website in your web browser.
- Click on the KU Login button.
- Sign in with your KU Online ID and Password.
You have 1TB of online personal storage with OneDrive for Business.
Browser-based access:
You can access your OneDrive for Business storage anytime using a web browser.
- Go to KU's OneDrive website.
- Log in with your KU Online ID and password.
Desktop access:
You can also connect your computer so that files are stored online but available from your desktop.
- Download Microsoft OneDrive from the App Store.
- Open the OneDrive app.
- Enter your primary KU email address and select Sign in.
- Log in with your KU Online ID and password.
- Select Choose OneDrive Folder Location on the "This Is Your OneDrive Folder" screen.
- Choose where you would like the OneDrive folder to be located and select the Choose this location button. Choose if you would like all or select folders to sync with your OneDrive and select Next on the "Sync Files from Your OneDrive screen."
- Choose if you would like OneDrive to open at login and select Open my OneDrive - The University of Kansas folder.
- Go to the Adobe Spark website.
- Select Log in.
- Select Log in with school account.
- Enter your KU email address and select Sign in with an Enterprise ID.
- If prompted, select Enterprise ID.
- Log in with your KU Online ID and Password.

Windows 10
Browser-based access:
You can check your email anytime using any web browser.
- Go to Office 365.
- Enter your KU email address (for example, a123b456@ku.edu).
- You will be prompted to sign in to KU's system using your KU Online ID and password.
Desktop app access:
You can connect your KU email to Outlook (downloadable at no cost with Microsoft Office – see "INSTALL MICROSOFT OFFICE" below).
- Launch Outlook and select Get Started.
- Select Start Using Outlook.
- Enter your KU email address.
- Select Advanced options, and select Set up manually.
- Select Exchange as account type.
- When entering password, select More choices and Use a different account.
- Enter home\ followed by your KU Online ID (for example, home\a123b456) and your password.
- Follow the prompt to complete the setup.
- When on campus, select the network icon in the taskbar and select JAYHAWK network and select Connect.
- Sign in with your KU Online ID and Password.
- Visit the Zoom download page.
- Under Zoom Client for Meetings, select Download.
- Run ZoomInstaller.exe.
- The Zoom app will now be installed and you can join meetings.
- Log in to Office 365 with your KU Online ID and Password.
- Select the Menu icon at the top left and select Office 365.
- Click Install Office apps and then select Office 365 apps to download the Office suite.
Tip: Alternatively you may use online versions of Office applications without downloading apps. - Run the installer package and continue to install applications.
- Select All Done to finish the installation.
- When you first open a Microsoft Office product you will be signed into your personal account. Select the Profile icon at the top right and select Switch account.
- Select Work or school account and enter your KU email.
- Sign in with yourKU Online ID and Password.
- A prompt will show up to allow device management. Select Allow and click Yes to automatically log on to your KU account on all Office apps.
CANVAS: Go to the Canvas website in your web browser.
- Click on the KU Login button.
- Sign in with your KU Online ID and Password.
You have 1TB of online personal storage with OneDrive for Business.
Browser-based access:
You can access your OneDrive for Business storage anytime using a web browser.
- Go to KU's OneDrive website.
- Log in with your KU Online ID and password.
Desktop access:
You can also connect your computer so that files are stored online but available from your desktop (OneDrive for Business is part of Microsoft Office 365, which is downloadable at no cost – see "INSTALL MICROSOFT OFFICE" above).
- Search for OneDrive in the Start menu.
- Right-click the OneDrive icon and click Settings.
- Select the Add an account button.
- Enter your KU Email.
- Sign in with your KU Online ID and Password.
- Go to the Adobe Spark website.
- Select Log in.
- Select Log in with school account.
- Enter your KU email address and select Sign in with an Enterprise ID.
- If prompted, select Enterprise ID.
- Log in with your KU Online ID and Password.
